Tehran, July 6 — Mourners dressed in black flooded the streets of Iran’s capital on Monday for a procession as part of the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in a February 28 airstrike at the start of a war launched by Israel and the United States. The crowd called for the death of U.S. President Donald Trump, as a truck carried the flag-draped coffins of Khamenei and members of his family. The truck was decorated to resemble the ornamental grating of a holy shrine.

Revolutionary Guard General Hasan Hasanzsdeh, who is overseeing the procession, said the coffins would be taken through Tehran to Mehrabad International Airport over a 12-hour journey. The massive turnout, encouraged by Iran’s theocracy as a sign of strength, came as it negotiates with the U.S. over a permanent end to the war. Trump has warned that without an agreement, the U.S. would "finish the job."
