Venezuela's Acting President Rodríguez Holds Strategic Talks with PM Modi in New Delhi
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, met Indian prime minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Wednesday, describing the talks as an opportunity to forge new strategic alliances between the two nations. Rodríguez shared details of the encounter on Telegram, calling it “an honour” and thanking Modi for his warm reception while conveying greetings from the Venezuelan people.
Rodríguez was accompanied by foreign minister Yván Gil, transport minister Jacqueline Faría, health minister Isabel Iturria and science and technology minister Gabriela Jiménez. The two sides discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in transport, health, energy complementarity, agriculture, science and technology, exploring fresh avenues for mutual benefit.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations, pointing to a future of shared prosperity for their countries and the wider Global South, Rodríguez said in her message. The Venezuelan delegation began an official working visit to India the previous day, with an agenda that includes further high-level meetings with government officials and Indian business representatives.
