Venezuela’s acting president Delsy Rodríguez met Indian prime minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, describing the talks as an honour and a fraternal encounter that reaffirmed the two nations’ commitment to Global South solidarity. Rodríguez, who is on an official working visit to India, thanked Modi for his cordial welcome and conveyed greetings from the Venezuelan people, according to a post on her Telegram channel.
She was accompanied by foreign minister Yván Gil, transport minister Jacqueline Faría, health minister Isabel Iturria, and science and technology minister Gabriela Jiménez. The two sides discussed bilateral co-operation in transport, health, energy complementarity, agriculture, science and technology, and explored new avenues for strategic alliances that would benefit both populations.
Rodríguez said she and Modi had reaffirmed their willingness to deepen the relationship. “We reaffirmed the willingness to continue strengthening our relationship, for the sake of a future of shared prosperity between our nations and for the Global South,” she wrote.
The Venezuelan delegation began its visit a day earlier. Official sources indicated that Rodríguez’s agenda includes high-level meetings with Indian government authorities and business leaders.
