Palestinian Civil Defence reported that Israeli forces killed at least eight Palestinians in various strikes across the Gaza Strip, as reported by aljazeera.com. The incidents occurred on Sunday, just two days after the unveiling of the US’s Board of Peace’s 15-point roadmap for implementing last year’s Gaza ceasefire agreement and facilitating Hamas disarmament, which has yet to be implemented on the ground.

Among the casualties were a man and a woman, who were hit in an Israeli helicopter strike on an apartment south of Deir el-Balah. Additional strikes resulted in the death of several others across the territory, including three people in Khan Younis and one person in the Old City of Gaza City.

Hamas has stated that it will only hand over its weapons for storage after Israel halts its military operations and withdraws its forces, in line with last year’s agreement. However, an Israeli official told Reuters that there would be no withdrawal from current positions unless Hamas undergoes ‘genuine disarmament’. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not made any public comments regarding the initiative.

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called the US plan unacceptable and advocated for the continuation of targeting Hamas leaders. Meanwhile, former senior Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan, based in the United Arab Emirates, stated that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser on the US initiative, informed him that he is working with Israel to cease attacks on Gaza. Dahlan mentioned that talks with Washington are ongoing and that the success of the agreement hinges on Israel ending its daily strikes.

In a separate incident, Israeli strikes destroyed a medical supply warehouse in central Gaza on Saturday, creating a significant crater 20 metres wide and 10 metres deep, which is part of a broader pattern of attacks that persist despite the push for a ceasefire.
